GENESIS Database
By developing the Common New Statistical Information System (Gemeinsames Neues Statistisches Informations-System - GENESIS), the Federal Statistical Office and the statistical offices of the Länder have set up new information databases in order to make the wide range of official statistics available via the Internet in an easy-to-use manner. The GENESIS databases offer access for research by keywords or hierarchically through subject areas. Tables have a flexible structure, i.e. variables can be selected for specific table elements before starting retrieval. Before retrieval, you may use the quick preview function in order to get an impression of the structure and volume of a specific table. The results are not only shown as HTML tables, but may also downloaded in the Excel, CSV or HTML formats. Also, comprehensive background and additional information is offered. Statistics, variables and their attributes are described in detail to facilitate interpretation.
